Zion NP and Cedar Breaks National Monument, May 29,2016

Note to self (and everyone else): don’t try to visit one of the most well-known parks on Memorial Day weekend.  This park is unique in that you can’t drive into it, you must take a shuttle bus (which I believe is an excellent way to help protect the park).  But, on a holiday weekend, the line for the shuttle bus is entirely impossible.  I went on a shorter hike near the visitor center, but decided to skip the bus into the park (I’m thinking I’ll be able to try again later in the week – stay tuned).  I then went to the Kolob Canyons portion of the park, much less visited.  Then I visited the Cedar Breaks National Monument, an eroded canyon similar in appearance to Bryce.
