The South Rim, Big Bend National Park, May 22, 2016

I enjoy backpacking, but I have yet to perfect the ability to bring my DSLR in my pack.  Especially in Big Bend, where all water much be packed in with you, making weight a premium.  So on this two day hike around the South Rim of the Chisos Mountains in Big Bend National Park, iPhone will have to do.  (Fortunately, I’ve still got my trusty Lightroom 6 to give even iPhone images a bit of a tweak!)

The South Rim is incredible.  6 mile hike to the rim, almost entirely climbing and switchbacks.  The peregrine falcons were nesting in the vertical cliffs below the rim, wheeling and calling out below me.  The view is breathtaking, made even more so by the difficult climb to reach it.
